How it all started...
On Monday, June 23, 2002, eleven baptized believers gathered together at New Home MBC to form a mission. Sunday, June 29, 2003 the first mission service was held at 4930 West Augusta Boulevard a location that was affectionately known as the "furniture store". That Sunday and every Sunday after, we came together to praise the goodness of the Lord in our mission services, awaiting the moment when the mission would become a church.
On Tuesday, July 15, 2003, our charter was received and church began with 32 members, including 4 deacons, 5 ushers, 2 secretaries, and 9 trustees. On Sunday, September 14, 2003 the church relocated to 5642 West North Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. The Church motto: "A Church Designed With A Powerful Purpose" was adopted. On Sunday, November 9, 2003, Rev. Derrick D. McCollum Sr. was officially installed as our pastor. As ministry continued and our church began to grow, on October 28, 2008, we were able to purchase our current location.
Over the years, PNB has maintained its affiliation with the Sunlight Baptist District Association by enhancing our spiritual minds in Christian Education, leadership, and fellowship. We have been diligently active in our community through hosting YES Summer Youth Employment & Food Pantry, Chicago Public Schools Safe Haven, as well as executing coat drives, back-to-school festivals, and feeding the homeless.
